YPC Senior Shoutout : Morgan Galyen

Meet Morgan Galyen, a senior at Twin Lakes High School who has spent the past three years making a difference through the Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC). This program, a cornerstone of the Community Foundation of White County, empowers students to take the lead in identifying school needs and creating impactful solutions.

Working alongside peers, Morgan has taken on roles such as crafting and promoting grant opportunities and making decisions that directly benefit her classmates and teachers. Her dedication to improving the learning environment exemplifies the power of youth leadership in action.

“I love getting to collaborate with my peers from all over the county and help people in our schools with things that will improve the learning environment for many,” Morgan shared. “One of my favorite grants was one that helped a teacher in my school get cushions for her classroom. I may be biased, but it’s one of my favorites because I get to use them every day, and so do many other people.”

For Morgan, the impact of the YPC goes beyond grant-making. “I hope that people are able to use the things I helped provide for years to come,” she said. “Being part of this has shown me how important it is to give back to others. I think we all need to rely on and support each other.”

Outside of their work with the YPC, Morgan is a vibrant part of her school and community, excelling as a student-athlete and performer. She stays busy with golf, tennis, swimming, and theater, while also finding time to enjoy the lake, read, and spend time with family and friends. Her passion for helping others extends to animals, and her future plans include studying marine science or environmental biology in college.

Reflecting on their time with the YPC, Morgan expressed gratitude for the experience. “The YPC has impacted my life in so many ways and helped me meet some great people. I am so very thankful that I have had this opportunity for the past three years,” she said.

By empowering youth like Morgan to lead with purpose and compassion, the YPC is building a stronger, more connected White County. Through their efforts, today’s students are creating a legacy of leadership and generosity that will benefit their community for years to come.
