Uplifting Women's Education

The Community Foundation of White County is delighted to continue offering the Women Giving Together Scholarship, an initiative designed to uplift nontraditional female students pursuing higher education. This scholarship honors the remarkable legacy of Connie Neininger, the first Executive Director of our Foundation and a true pillar in our community.

Connie Neininger played a pivotal role not only in the creation of the Community Foundation of White County but also in spearheading community-wide efforts to foster philanthropy through the Women Giving Together giving circle. Under her leadership, this group of dedicated women worked tirelessly to address their hopes and dreams for a better community. And sixteen years later after its creation, the Women Giving Together Fund’s mission continues to expand its impact across the county.

The Women Giving Together Scholarship is a continuation of this important mission. Each year, a $500 scholarship is available to a nontraditional female student residing in White County. This support aims to empower women who are returning to education later in life, changing career paths, or balancing their studies with family and work responsibilities.

This scholarship represents the spirit of community and the belief that education can transform lives and open doors to new opportunities. It stands as a testament to Connie Neininger's enduring impact on our community and her unwavering commitment to helping women achieve their dreams through education and philanthropy.

Originally designed to be awarded to a student attending Ivy Tech Instructional Center in Monticello, the scholarship is now eligible to support students attending any accredited university while residing in White County.

We encourage all eligible nontraditional female students to apply and take this opportunity to advance their educational goals. Together, we can continue Connie's legacy of giving and support the women who strive to make a difference in their lives and our community.
