Benefits & Considerations for
DONORS
Community Foundation of White County
BENEFITS
for Donors
SIMPLICITY
It’s easy and convenient to donate to or establish a fund. A gift to an unrestricted fund (during life or through an estate) can benefit worthwhile projects throughout the community, or you may choose to support a specific interest.
PERMANANCE
The Foundation is a permanent part of the community. Contributions to CFWC will provide charitable benefits indefinitely since fund principal is retained, and generally, only earnings are used for grantmaking.
FLEXIBILITY
Several types of funds are available to donors, and
many types of assets may be used to start or add to a fund. Funds
may be designated for a specific purpose or set up
with no restrictions on how the money is used.
Donors may choose to remain anonymous when donating to or creating a fund, or, for example, to have their identity or gift revealed only after their death. The Foundation only shares information authorized by the donor.
TAX BENEFITS
Contributions to the Community Foundation qualify for maximum deductibility under tax laws.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Annual independent auditing and filing of tax returns, together with a carefully selected volunteer board, ensure the use of public funds for the public good. Donations will always be used in accordance with the donor’s intent.
The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette, of which your White County
Community Foundation is an affiliate, complies with the rigorous established by the Community Foundation National Standards Board, a supporting organization of the Council on Foundations.
If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.

CONSIDERATIONS
for Donors
A major gift, such as one to establish a permanent endowment, should be done with thoughtful consideration.
WHEN TO GIVE
You may create your fund now, establish it in your estate plans, or create it through a trust arrangement that could benefit your family as well as charity. Tax deductions are earned at the time of your gift, while grants awarded from your fund will continue into the future.
WHAT TO GIVE
Many types of assets can be used to start your fund. We can also discuss options such as bequests and charitable remainder trusts. Also see Ways to Give.
NAME YOUR FUND
You may choose the name of your fund. You might choose a family name, one that describes your fund’s charitable purpose, or one that provides inspiration. The name of your grant will be carried on with every grant awarded from your fund…forever.
CHOOSE A TYPE OF FUND
We offer a variety of fund types to meet our donors' different charitable interests. See the various Types of Funds.
CONSULT YOUR PROFESSIONAL ADVISOR
We always encourage you to consult your professional advisor when considering charitable gifts. We are committed to partnering with you and your advisor to best accomplish your wishes.
